P\u00e1ramo garments have a PFAS-Free Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating applied to them that not only provides waterproofing but is essential for breathability. Repeat use, and dirt, dust, sweat, oils from animals, sunscreen and makeup can all build up over time and prevent the DWR from working properly.\u00a0 Our wash &amp; care instructions will keep your garments performing their best.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The washing process is easy, and preparation is quick. <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Wipe any excess dirt off your garment, secure zips, fasten tabs and loosen any elastics. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ensure your washing machine tray is clear of detergent and fabric softener residues. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/nikwax.com\/en-us\/products\/cleaning\/equipment\/tech-wash\/\">Nikwax\u00a0Tech Wash<\/a> and wash on a low temperature setting. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>At the end of the wash cycle, run your garment under a tap while it is still wet to check if water beads up on the outer fabric. If it does not, use <a href=\"https:\/\/nikwax.com\/en-us\/products\/waterproofing\/clothing-waterproofing\/tx-direct-wash-in\/\">Nikwax TX.Direct<\/a> and use the same cycle setting as for the initial wash. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>At the end of the waterproofing cycle, leave your garment to air dry.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion active_section=&#8221;99&#8243; collapsible_all=&#8221;true&#8221;][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;More Details&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;nikwax-analogy&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>Our recommendation is to wash your garment using a warm, regular cycle.\u00a0 Do not wash on hot.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Washing:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wash your garment regularly with <a href=\"https:\/\/paramo-clothing.com\/en-us\/explore-range\/product\/tech-wash-technical-cleaner\/\">Tech Wash\u00ae<\/a> to ensure it is kept clean from dirt and contaminants and remains fresh. For most people this should be approximately every 3 months, however, if you wear your garment daily, we recommend you wash it once a month.\u00a0 You can never over-wash P\u00e1ramo clothing \u2013 in fact, the more you wash it, the better it will perform and the longer it will last. It will also need reproofing less often.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Re-waterproofing: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You do not need to re-waterproof your garment after every wash. Rather, you should re-waterproof it with <a href=\"https:\/\/paramo-clothing.com\/en-us\/explore-range\/product\/tx-direct-wash-in\/\">TX-Direct<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Wash-in<\/a> every 2-5 washes <em>after<\/em> cleaning it first with Tech Wash. We recommend checking the beading on your wet, freshly laundered garment after the washing stage to determine whether it needs to be re-waterproofed.<\/p>\n<p>DO NOT use Tech Wash and TX-Direct in the same wash cycle!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Tumble drying: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While your garment can be tumble dried (low temperature, synthetic) it is not a performance requirement and we do not advise it. This is because both P\u00e1ramo and Nikwax products are PFAS free and, therefore, do not require heat activation to deliver cleaning and waterproofing results. Instead, we recommend air drying your garment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Trouble shooting: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If your garment is not re-waterproofing as you would expect it to, this is likely due to; insufficient washing, external contamination (such as from pack straps or airborne chemicals), over-proofing, or if the garment has not been cleaned properly first.
