{"id":17855,"date":"2022-04-20T17:11:34","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T16:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paramo-clothing.com\/en-us\/blog\/?p=9521"},"modified":"2024-09-17T21:11:35","modified_gmt":"2024-09-17T20:11:35","slug":"happy-30th-birthday-to-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paramo-clothing.com\/en-us\/blog\/happy-30th-birthday-to-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy 30th Birthday to us!"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Since April 1992, when Nick Brown formed a partnership with Creaciones Miquelina in Bogot\u00e1, Colombia, P\u00e1ramo has protected people outdoors with high performance, sustainable and award-winning clothing.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>P\u00e1ramo was born 30 years ago when our founder, Nick, was introduced to Sister Esther Casta\u00f1o Mejia who was running a small sewing workshop, <a href=\"https:\/\/paramo-clothing.com\/en-us\/our-ethics\/manufacturing\/\">Creaciones Miquelina<\/a>, offering practical help to vulnerable women from the streets of Bogot\u00e1, Colombia. The workshop provided training and experience enabling women to apply for jobs in other factories, although it was not a commercially viable manufacturer at this stage with twenty women working on just two second hand sewing machines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sister Esther was in need of a visionary partner willing to help the charity grow and so the production of Nick\u2019s directional waterproof garments began, P\u00e1ramo was launched and Miquelina &#8211; named after Sister Micaela, the founder of the order &#8211; was on the path to charitable foundation status. 30 years on, there are now 150 women working for P\u00e1ramo in Bogot\u00e1 and a further 50 based in East Sussex.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In February 2022 our alliance was cemented further with not only the integration of the Miquelina factory into the P\u00e1ramo business, but also our transition to an <a href=\"https:\/\/paramo-clothing.com\/en-us\/blog\/paramo-becomes-an-employee-owned-trust\/\">Employee Owned Trust<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>\u201cOver the years, I have loved seeing the pictures and hearing the stories of you all enjoying your P\u00e1ramo kit in the great outdoors and we will celebrate our 30th year with some fantastic stories of our own. We also received recognition from readers of Which? Magazine.<br \/><strong>2022:<\/strong> P\u00e1ramo integrates the Miquelina factory into its business, transitions to an Employee Owned Trust, and we celebrate our 30th birthday!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>2022 is a momentous year for us and from April 22nd we will be sharing exciting and engaging 30th birthday activity on our website and social media feeds, and in our newsletters.
