Páramo and the Royal Entomological Society

Please take a moment to read our short guest blog from the Royal Entomological Society, our newest conservation partner. The Society plays a major role in promoting the science, policy and practice of insect conservation, and we were honoured to be asked to be their official clothing partner. We are excited to be at the start of an exciting and collaborative future together!

The Royal Entomological Society (RES) is delighted to partner with Páramo Clothing. With an international community of over 2,500 insect scientists, many of whom work out in the field, our new leading ethical clothing partner will provide real value with exclusive discounts for the RES membership, plus day-to-day protection from the elements.

The RES is a membership organisation with a 191-year history of supporting and convening cutting-edge research. We act as a knowledge hub for insect science, engage diverse audiences, and invest in entomology that benefits both nature and people. Anyone interested in the study of insects can join our organisation as a member, receiving access to our quarterly magazine, the latest research published in our journals, and discounts on our events and our annual Ento conference. We have a range of membership options available to suit everyone, from the insect enthusiast and citizen scientist to budding researchers and experts in the field.

Our Society has chosen to work with Páramo due to its commitment to ethical manufacturing, with products guaranteed Fair Trade by the World Fair Trade Organization. We are delighted to work with a company that doesn’t use environmentally harmful perfluorinated compound chemicals (PFAS) to waterproof their garments. Working with their sister company, Nikwax, Páramo’s waterproof clothing is PFAS-free.

The Royal Entomological Society has a commitment to best practice in sustainability and environmental considerations throughout our charitable activities and partnerships. Being able to offer our membership base an exclusive discount on Páramo clothing whilst sharing the work of our charity with new audiences, will help us enrich the world with insect science.

RES Membership is open to anyone interested in insect science wishing to join our global community of likeminded professionals and enthusiasts. All members and fellows receive Antenna, the quarterly bulletin of the Royal Entomological Society.
