In February 2022, our founder, Nick Brown, broke new ground in the outdoor industry and transferred his ownership of Páramo to us, the employees. Not only are we all now Partners with an equal share in a thriving business, but our collective years of service and expertise means you can always trust us to keep you warm, dry and comfortable on the hills and mountains.

Our employee-owned company is truly international, with offices in the UK, USA and Colombia, and we have elected employee representatives in each of these countries to form a Staff Council, ensuring all Partners can feed into how our business is run. As well as reinforcing our dedication to sharing the responsibility of doing the right thing, we also all share in the collective success of Páramo.

We are a values-oriented organisation that champions transparency and treats the people we work with fairly and equally. We offer flexible working arrangements across all levels of the business and are proud that so many of our Partners have worked with us for decades.

We are inspired to make a positive contribution to the world and communities we operate in by ensuring the sustainable development and production of our clothing is placed above pure short-term financial gain. Every step of the way, our Partners are helping to ensure that Páramo’s social and ecological founding values are maintained for many more years to come.

Did you know that employee-ownership is the fastest growing form of business ownership in the UK? This is because employee-owned businesses are typically more socially responsible, with individuals becoming more engaged as they are provided with unique opportunities for personal and professional growth; as well as possessing the ability to share in the wealth that they create. But don’t just take it from the author of this blog, read some of our Partner’s views below…

I find it empowering to be part of a company where everyone has an equal stake it its future. It is rewarding to know my work contributes to something bigger and that success is shared among all of us. There’s a real sense of unity and purpose knowing we’re working for each other and maintaining our core values at Páramo together. Lauren Ring, Customer Experience Administrator, UK

Being employee-owned allows us at Páramo to engage in shaping the future of the business and feel a sense of ownership. Pride in being able to affect real change within the company and for all partners to work together towards common goals and shared successes. Tom Sayer, Fulfilment and Logistics Manager

The move to an Employee-Owned Trust has been very big with many expectations – to improve my family’s way of life and to finish paying off my house and my debts. I am also in a better position to help pay for my daughters to study and go to university. Above all, now that Miquelina is part of a trust, many women who really need help will receive it. Viviana Montenegro, Flat Machine Operator, Colombia

Being employee-owned means more than just having a stake in our business—it’s about working together toward a shared vision, where every voice matters, and every effort contributes to our collective success. It fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, and pride, knowing that the future we build benefits not just the company, but all of us as individuals. Samantha Theron, Head of Marketing, UK

I am encouraged by the fact that we can really be involved in the company and help to make decisions. We are committed women with a fighting spirit who have overcome the adversities in our lives; I am confident that everything that has happened within the company is for the common good. Magda Lasso, Labour Operator, Colombia

Páramo has always been a close-knit family, since we were founded in 1992, and our new phase as an employee-owned business cements our bond further. We are excited for what the future holds!
