Repair Service

Whilst our gear is extremely durable – you could puncture a Páramo waterproof with pins, remove them, and still stay dry in the rain – damage to fabric and components can still occur and we purposefully design our products to be repairable, keeping them performing for you on adventure after adventure (jackets that use membranes, coatings and sealed seams are less easily repaired and do not have the same lifespan).

From patching to zip replacements to sleeve shortening and lengthening, our expert workshop, which was established in 1999 and employs the use of hand sewing machines only, will breathe new life into your gear to keep it performing for you year in, year out.

Repairing our gear to a high standard takes time, which is why we schedule a window of 6–8 weeks to do the best job we can for you. We always use our own proprietary Nikwax fabrics and choose our replacement components very carefully to ensure we achieve the closest match possible.

All waterproof and water repellent garments that undergo a repair or alteration are also professionally laundered and re-proofed with Nikwax.

If you would prefer to undertake a repair yourself, we can send you a kit containing all the Páramo components you need plus helpful instructions and Nikwax aftercare for post-repair cleaning and proofing.

Our prices reflect the unique nature of Páramo gear and the quality of our components and repair service. We conduct a full and fair assessment of every garment we receive before we confirm and agree the price with you and get to work. Typical workshop charges are set out below (these may vary depending on the volume and complexity of requirements).

Repair Service

FAQ’S

How do I book a repair or deep clean service?

All workshop and laundry bookings must be made in advance via our online contact form or our Customer Experience team; any clothing sent to us without being booked in first will be returned to you. We are unable to quote for repairs based on photographs.

How do I package up and post my garment to you?

First, you should empty any pockets, secure zips and loosen elastic cords. Please also consider the person opening your parcel and ensure your garment is in a decent handling condition, regardless of whether a repair or deep clean is required (any very dirty or wet garments we receive will incur an additional £10 cleaning charge).

In your package, with your garment, you must include your booking reference and completed returns form as well as pertinent contact information – name, phone number, email and the postal address you would like your repaired garment returned to. Please also clearly mark the outside of the parcel with your booking reference as this helps us process the garment efficiently.

What can I expect from your in-house assessment?

Our workshop team will examine your jacket; all panels, cuffs and components will be thoroughly checked to see if there is anything else in need of repair or replacement. Please don’t be alarmed if we discover more areas than what you initially booked in for – any additional work is optional.

Why do Páramo repairs take so long?

As our garments are constructed without glues, taped seams or membranes, which are much more difficult to repair or recycle, it takes time and a keen eye to unpick and re-do stitching, as it does to find the best possible component and fabric swatches for your repair job. Repairs are also rigorously quality checked to ensure future performance. Our Customer Experience team will always confirm timescales with you when booking our services (our laundering service is usually turned around within 2 weeks).

Is there anything you can’t do?

We will not make alterations that retrospectively alter the technical features of a garment, such as adding or removing vents, or changing a hood size, as their fit and/or future performance cannot be guaranteed.

After my repair, will my jacket look like it did before?

We strive to ensure that our repairs blend in with your garment. However, occasionally, the colour of a panel replacement or patch will differ slightly from the original fabric due to changes in manufacturing and fabric dyeing processes over the years and/or UV damage to the fabric. In this case, we may be in contact to propose the use of contrasting colours to give your jacket a unique repair of its own. We may also use newer components in a repair in line with our current stock parameters.

Can I repair my garment myself?

Of course! Our workshop sells various components such as front zips, poppers and patch kits so you can repair your garment at home. Please contact our Customer Experience team to order your kit and discuss any guarantee implications this may have.

My jacket is leaking, should I send it to you for a professional clean?

We recommend you clean your garment at home first with Nikwax Tech Wash and TX. Direct, following wash care guidelines. If there is no improvement, it is likely your garment requires a deep clean to lift any ingrained dirt or stains that could be affecting it waterproofing capabilities.

What does your laundry service entail?

We will deep clean your garment with our specially formulated Nikwax solution, which is far better at removing ingrained dirt than domestic products. Whilst we will do our best to lift stubborn stains – performing several washes if necessary – some dirt and marks may be too embedded in the fabric to lift completely. However, once we are satisfied your garment is as clean as it can be, we will reproof it to our factory standard and return it to you via a 24 hour courier service.

Will the zip I receive in my home repair kit be the same colur as my current zip?

Yes, if the original-coloured zip is available in the correct size for your garment. If it isn’t, we’ll find either a close match or a tonal match to the outer fabric.

Are the zips not all a generic length?

No – zips vary in length, and they can warp over time. Please use our zip measuring guide before ordering a replacement to ensure you receive the correct length.

Paramo Recycling Scheme

Recycling Scheme

Durability has always been a design requirement and our Recycling Scheme helps to minimise environmental impact by giving your pre-loved Páramo clothing a second life.

If your gear has reached the end of its adventures with you yet still has years of life left in it, we will pass it on to an appreciative new owner via our Páramo Re:store Adventure initiative.

However, if your gear is clearly retired from the great outdoors and is well and truly beyond economic repair, it is stripped of useful components and baled up for shipping to our specialist recycling facility. Here, your old and unusable clothing undergoes an innovative process that preserves the value and quality of its polyester for re-use in new, high-performance fabrics.

Our gear is engineered never to become obsolete. Our goal is to have a circular supply chain, transforming old Páramo garments back into new.

Re-store adventure

We carefully assess, clean and reproof all pre-loved Páramo clothing returned to us to ensure it meets our high performance standards, before re-selling it in a dedicated Re-store Adventure area of our Wadhurst and Keswick Brand Stores.

Every piece of Re-store Adventure clothing has a 12-month warranty, gear will often show signs of previous adventures, giving each jacket, fleece or pair of trousers a unique character of its own. Thousands of our pre-loved garments are still living their best lives on the hills and mountains, tracks and trails.

We will also reward you for recycling your Páramo product with us – no matter its condition – with a generous discount on another Páramo purchase.

For a Nikwax Analogy product, we’ll give you a £50 voucher. For any other Páramo product, we’ll give you a £10 voucher.

The circular economy is based on three core principles: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials, and regenerate nature. These principles encourage us to move away from a traditional economic system where resources are extracted, transformed into products, and then discarded as waste.

Our clothing is made from 100% polyester, which makes it uniquely suited to recycling. Unlike other materials, polyester can be broken down into its original building blocks with chemical recycling and transformed into new fibre. This is why we avoid using mixed materials, which make clothing more likely to end up in landfill as the recycling process becomes more complex.

Páramo is championing chemical recycling in the textile industry by sending all old, unusable Páramo gear to a specialist recycling facility that removes the dyes and contaminants from its polyester (depolymerisation and purification) to produce high-quality Polyethylene Terephthalate chip. These chips maintain the quality of raw materials that have not been previously used or processed, enabling them to be (re) used in high-performance recycled fabrics for new gear.

Collaborating with Lafayette Sports, we have broken down textile waste into its basic modular components (monomers and polymers) and reassembled them into new, usable yarn for use in two Páramo products – the Halkon 360 Men’s Jacket, and the Aspira 360 Unisex Expedition Smock. These groundbreaking products, which use Pump Liner® made from recycled Páramo garments and waste from the textile industry, showcase the feasibility of a supply chain that recovers value from products at the end of their useful life, reducing waste and increasing resource efficiency, and the potential for industry-wide adoption of chemical recycling.
