Páramo waterproofs are made from Nikwax® Analogy® – a unique fabric system that mimics the action of mammal fur to protect you from rain and manage your sweat. Its two-layer construction and waterproofing treatment repels rain, moves moisture away from your skin, and traps still air to protect your insulation.

HOW IT WORKS
The inner layer, called Pump Liner®, actively pushes sweat away from the body to protect you from a build-up of moisture inside your jacket, which could compromise your insulation and leave you feeling clammy, cold and wet.
The outer layer is a strong, closely woven, microfibre windproof that deflects wind and rain, whilst any water that does make it through is pushed back by the Pump Liner. The durable water repellency of the fabric can be renewed for the lifetime of the jacket by using Nikwax waterproofing products.
WHAT IS DIRECTIONALITY?
Nikwax Analogy is better than breathable membranes at keeping you dry and warm in cold and wet conditions, and dry and cool in hotter conditions, and we use the term ‘directionality’ to explain why. Simply, it means the ability of the fabric to move liquid water to where you want it to be – away from you!
It is more efficient to move ‘liquid’ water (sweat and condensation) over water ‘vapour’ as the physical change that creates water ‘vapour’ requires heat, which makes the inside of a jacket hotter – as happens in membrane gear. By moving water in liquid form via directionality, we are getting rid of it much more quickly and effectively. Whilst the water is being taken care of, your all-important insulation is protected by the two layers of fabric.
Breathable Membranes
Although breathable membranes are engineered to allow water ‘vapour’ to pass through them, they do nothing to transport ‘liquid’ water. Therefore, when the production of sweat exceeds the water vapour transmission rate, or when the external temperature drops, ‘liquid’ water builds up in the form of condensation. Consequentially, sudden and rapid cooling is experienced when you slow down or stop. In extremely cold conditions, this condensation can sometimes turn to ice. Directionality avoids this build-up of condensation, keeping you dry and comfortable in all weather conditions, whether you are cool, warm, on the move or resting.
Durable
Páramo waterproofs are also rustle-free and extremely durable, meaning you can rely on their performance for years and years – you could puncture the fabric with pins, remove them, and still stay dry in the rain! Furthermore, unlike coated or membrane-based garments, our waterproof clothing can be easily repaired without compromising future performance.
Ergonomic designs, multiple practical features and timeless colours are further hallmarks of Páramo gear, allowing use of our clothing across a range of operating temperatures, conditions and activities.
Field Tested
All our garments are rigorously field-tested in a range of weathers and environments to ensure they deliver consistent, ongoing performance in exacting conditions during ‘real’ activities. Our Nikwax Analogy Waterproof badges denote that they have shown no water ingress during these stringent testing procedures, which are independently monitored and reported.
