Our waterproof gear is designed to keep you comfortable and dry in all conditions, but not every garment provides the same level of weather protection. The Nikwax Analogy system works differently from conventional waterproof fabrics— actively moving liquid water away from your body as well as allowing moisture vapour to escape. For occasional use, such as short walks or light showers, a lighter garment offers plenty of protection and breathability. But if you’ll be outdoors for long periods in persistent rain or carrying a heavy pack, a more protective design with greater directional waterproof performance will keep you drier and more comfortable. 

Wind resistance refers to how well your garment blocks the wind—an essential feature in cold or exposed environments where windchill can rapidly increase heat loss. In membrane waterproofs, greater wind protection usually reduces breathability, however, Nikwax Analogy doesn’t rely on breathability alone – it actively moves liquid water away from your body, keeping you dry even when humidity is high or airflow is reduced. 

The more durable a garment is, the better its abrasion resistance, making it less likely to be damaged by rocks or sharp tools. The trade-off is that added durability can means extra weight and reduced packability, which may not be ideal if you’re aiming to travel fast and light. 

Thanks to Páramo’s unique Nikwax Analogy system, our garments actively move moisture away from your body, keeping you dry and comfortable even during intense activity. The trade-off is that maximum moisture control can reduce insulation, so choosing the right layer helps you balance dryness with warmth in different conditions.
